MHSPW: There has been no reduction in doctors at health centers and hospitals; the changes are purely administrative

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection clarifies that no doctors have been cut from health centers or hospitals in the country. According to the institution, the recent changes do not affect medical staff or the services provided to citizens, but are related to an administrative reorganization aimed at strengthening family medicine and improving service quality.

Regarding the organization of the Family Medicine Center, formerly Health Center No. 10, the MHSPW says that specialist doctors will continue working in the same premises and will serve the same population, while administratively they will come under the authority of Specialty Health Center No. 1, Tirana.

For citizens, neither the location where they receive services nor the doctor who treats them will change. This administrative restructuring is intended to ensure better coordination of services and improve healthcare.

The center also continues to operate under the agreement between the Ministry of Health and Social Protection and the University of Medicine, Tirana, serving as a practice site for the training of specialist doctors in family medicine.

The MHSPW again stresses that any claim of doctors being dismissed or reduced is unfounded. This reorganization does not affect citizens’ access to healthcare services and guarantees continuity of care from the same doctors, in the same premises.
