Political clashes over how the diaspora will vote in elections are continuing. LSDM has once again accused the government, claiming it is not giving up on attempts at what the party describes as electoral engineering and manipulation of more than 200,000 emigrant votes.
According to LSDM, their opposition is not about the diaspora’s right to vote, but about a model that, they say, would create opportunities for electoral theft.

“After their smuggled attempt at electronic voting failed, without any oversight, they are now trying to impose voting by mail, again without any oversight and security guarantees for the free will of citizens. Mickoski is not interested in the Reform Agenda; it is only a cover for electoral theft. It is a lie that LSDM is against the diaspora vote, because emigrants are already voting now. We are against a model that opens the door to electoral theft and manipulation of the votes of 200,000 citizens from the diaspora,” LSDM said.
The opposition party also believes that the government should abandon “these intentions” and come forward with a new proposal in which diaspora voting is regulated by the SEC through consensus.
