Hundreds of Kosovars traveling to Kosovo for vacation have been stranded for more than 15 hours in queues stretching several kilometers at the border crossing between Montenegro and Croatia.
Information obtained by the media indicates that the lengthy delays were caused by technical problems during border control checks, significantly slowing the movement of vehicles.
Many diaspora travelers say they have spent approximately 18 hours in the queue and are facing difficult conditions while waiting.
One traveler, who asked not to be identified, said they had been waiting for more than 18 hours in the middle of the mountains. According to him, travelers have run out of water and food, while there are no stores in the area where they can buy supplies.
He called on Kosovo’s institutions to intervene to help resolve the situation and ease traffic at the border.
It had previously been reported that the travelers had spent more than 12 hours stranded in a queue several kilometers long at the Croatia–Montenegro border.
Even at that stage, technical issues with the checks carried out during border control were slowing traffic.
Hundreds of diaspora travelers returning to their homeland told io about their experiences, saying that the wait had begun in the morning.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, one traveler said he had been in the queue for 12 hours and did not know how far it extended behind him. He said they had been waiting since the morning to travel 15 km to their destination and criticized the punishment being inflicted on travelers without them knowing the reason for the delays. According to him, the queue included children, elderly people, women and people who were ill, while many of them had no food.
