Live Clash in National Council: Kuçana Challenges Berisha Over Statute and Broadcast Is Cut

The meeting of the Democratic Party’s National Council became tense after heated debates erupted within it.

Shortly after PD leader Sali Berisha presented the names of candidates for several leadership positions in the party, National Council member Ilirjana Kuçana openly clashed with him.

Kuçana insisted that a request she had submitted a day earlier be taken into consideration and called on Berisha to respect the statute, asking him to read the document before proceeding with the meeting.

In response, Berisha tried to intervene, asking for a minute of time, but Kuçana did not back down. He then clarified that the submission of resolutions follows a specific procedure and that she would have that right, but only according to the internal rules.

As she accused that the statute had been violated from a certain point, Berisha retorted by asking if he could give her the proper answer. He emphasized that they had communicated that very day and that he had already given her an answer, repeating the instruction: ‘follow the statute.’

Immediately after this heated exchange, the television signal of the meeting’s broadcast to the media was cut by the Democratic Party.
