“If Flamur Noka Does Not ‘Bless’ You, You Cannot Build a Career in the DP. ‘Mulization’ Must Be Fought,” Kuçana Says of Clash with Berisha

Former Democratic Party parliamentary candidate and National Council member Ilirjana Kuçana explained on the programme “Të Paekspozuarit” on MCN TV the clash she had with DP chairman Sali Berisha during a meeting of the National Council.

Kuçana said she had submitted a resolution which, according to her, was not considered by those leading the meeting.

“I asked the chairwoman of the National Council to give me the floor to present the resolution, so that it could then be put to the members for a vote. She only had a procedural role, but she refused to read it, even though I had submitted it 24 hours earlier.

The resolution contained three main proposals.

The first point concerned opening up the Democratic Party and listening to the voices of protesters. The second was the establishment of an intellectual front and a student front, not necessarily involving DP members. The third point was the ‘de-Mulization’ of the Democratic Party.

“Mulization” is a phenomenon that must be fought. It is a model without meritocracy, in which a group of sycophants has been created and, if Flamur Noka does not ‘bless’ you, you cannot build a career in the Democratic Party.

I have nothing personal against Mr Noka. But politically, I believe he has fulfilled his mission and should have followed Edi Paloka’s example.

The Democratic Party needs reflection after the elections and needs to move closer to the civic protest.

The DP must listen to the voice of the square and reflect on the protest. What is happening is not renewal, but recycling,” Kuçana said.
