The extraordinary meeting was initiated after the submission, in mid-July, of the necessary signatures for its calling. The request secured the support of at least one-third of the delegates, as stipulated by the statutory criteria.

The LDK announced that the General Secretariat carried out verification and found that all requirements set out in the party’s Statute for organizing this process had been met.

Exercising the powers granted by the Statute, the chairman of LDK, Lumir Abdixhiku, decided that the Assembly would be held on July 30, starting at 18:00.

Following the start of this procedure, Abdixhiku temporarily suspended negotiations on the formation of Kosovo’s new institutions, until the conclusion of the confidence vote for him.

If the delegates support him and reconfirm his leadership of LDK, he is expected to resume talks on the formation of institutions. Meanwhile, the constitutive session of the Assembly of Kosovo is scheduled for August 6.

According to LDK, the entire procedure will be carried out respecting the party’s Statute, democratic standards, institutional transparency, and the will expressed by the delegates.
