Lawyers on boycott over regulation, GJKKO decides Meta and Kryemadhi trial to continue without defense lawyers

The Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime (GJKKO) has decided that the judicial process against Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi will continue from October 29 onward even without the presence of lawyers, if the latter continue the boycott due to the court’s new regulation.

The decision comes amid a lawyers’ boycott that risks affecting the normal conduct of court hearings.

If the defense lawyers continue not to appear in court, the judicial process is expected to proceed according to the decision made by the trial panel.

It remains to be seen whether the lawyers will end the boycott before October 29 or whether the trial will continue under the conditions set by the court.
