The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Economy have jointly approved the structure of the new school year for pre-university education. According to the published calendar, classes in 9-year and secondary schools will begin on September 14, 2026, and will last until June 18, 2027.
For final-year high school students, the deadline has been set for June 4, 2027, in order to free up space for the State Matura exams. These will be held from June 7 to 28.

As for holidays during the year, all students will have a winter break from December 24, 2026, to January 4, 2027. Additionally, basic education cycle students will also enjoy a spring break from March 29 to April 2, 2027.
The official document, already published in the Official Gazette, specifies that the national exams for basic education will be held between June 21 and 30, 2027.
For vocational education branches, the start dates of courses and final assessments have also been clearly defined. Most institutions at this level will begin classes on September 14 as well, although some specialized post-secondary programs may delay the start until the third week of October.
Final exams for various professional qualifications are scheduled to take place during May and June. The Professional Matura coincides with the State Matura on the same dates, from June 7 to 28, 2027.
