Kurti seeks dialogue with Hamza and Abdixhiku, Balaj warns of the consequences of a prolonged crisis

Acting Prime Minister and LVV leader Albin Kurti has called for a meeting with PDK chairman Bedri Hamza and LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku. The vote on the Assembly’s deputy speakers is expected to be at the center of the discussions, while Kurti has described agreement between the parties as a necessary step to overcome the current situation.

Political analyst Labinot Balaj sees this invitation as the latest effort to unblock the institutional crisis and avoid holding new elections. According to him, such a process would bring considerable political and economic costs for Kosovo.

“Kurti’s invitation is another attempt to serve the resolution of the institutional crisis and to avoid a new electoral process.

It should not be forgotten that new elections would burden Kosovo with great costs.

On the institutional level, prolonging the situation damages trust in the functioning of the state and risks turning the crisis into a permanent reality.

While on the international plane, such a state of affairs presents Kosovo as a fragile political system, where narrow interests can easily paralyze the decision-making process.

In economic terms, political uncertainty brings hesitation among investors and contributes to stagnation. Moreover, every electoral organization creates budgetary costs that are borne by citizens’ taxes. It is precisely in this context that Kurti’s invitation to the opposition party leaders should be viewed,” Balaj declared.

Balaj further states that PDK is obstructing the functioning of the institutions and that part of the LDK has also been included in this stance. He also attributes responsibility to the MPs who did not support the candidacy of Bekim Sejdiu.

“On one side stands Kurti’s strong commitment, as the political leader of his entity, to make the institutions functional. On the other side is PDK, which is maintaining a rigid stance clearly oriented toward blocking. What stands out most is that during this clash, PDK has also drawn part of the LDK to its side.

Consequently, the political responsibility for the current situation is becoming increasingly clear. It is linked to PDK and to some ‘stewards’ of its interests within the LDK, specifically the MPs who refused the candidacy of Prof. Bekim Sejdiu, who has historical ties to the LDK,” Balaj concluded for “Bota sot”.
