After meeting Abdixhiku, Kurti also met Hamza

On 3 October 2026, at 17:11, Prime Minister and Vetëvendosje Movement leader Albin Kurti met with PDK chairman Bedri Hamza.

Kurti and Hamza are expected to have discussed the election of the president and the Law on the Specialist Chambers and Specialist Prosecutor’s Office.

The meeting took place after Kurti had met earlier with the chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku.

Kurti and Hamza’s talks were held on Saturday afternoon, a day after the Government of Kosovo concluded late in the evening that there were no legal obstacles to the PDK’s initiative to amend the Law on the Specialist Chambers and Specialist Prosecutor’s Office.

Earlier, at 16:52, Abdixhiku left his meeting with Prime Minister Albin Kurti without making a statement to the media.

The LDK chairman did not say whether they had reached any agreement during the meeting on the election of Kosovo’s president or the law on the Specialist Chambers. Kurti also made no comment after the meeting.

The deadline for electing the president is 6 August.

The Kurti-Abdixhiku meeting had ended at 16:42. After leaving, the LDK leader did not say whether they had reached an agreement or understanding on the election of the president.

The talks took place a day after Kurti’s meeting with PDK chairman Bedri Hamza, which also produced no concrete agreement.

The political leaders are meeting just days before the deadline for electing Kosovo’s president expires.

The Assembly has until 6 October to elect a new president. If the process is not completed within the constitutional deadline, Kosovo will hold new elections.

The meeting between Kurti and Abdixhiku had begun at 16:41 in the Assembly of Kosovo. The discussions focused on the election of the president and the law on the Specialist Chambers.

Political developments in the coming days are expected to determine the next steps toward completing the process.
