In his speech, Kurti said that the new government would be guided by the motto “work for the citizen and protection for the family.” He also emphasized that, over five and a half years in government, average economic growth had reached 6 percent of gross domestic product.
One of the commitments made public concerns child benefits for families with three or more children. According to Kurti’s pledge, these payments will be doubled from 45 to 90 euros for each child.
He announced that the aim was also to raise the average salary in the public sector, which is expected to reach 1,000 euros per month. At the same time, the cancellation of the 10 percent customs duty on vehicles imported from the European Union was announced.
The program envisages continuing policies for mothers, children, the north, the army and agriculture. Kurti also promised to implement the law on price ceilings, with the aim of protecting citizens and honest traders from abuse.
Among the initiatives included in the program is the creation of Kosovo’s digital currency, which will be based on blockchain technology and used for payments and digital services. An Information Technology Tower will also be built in Pristina, according to the plan presented.
