Kurti described his compatriots as an extension of Kosovo and an important asset for the country. According to him, Albanians living abroad represent Kosovo and the Albanian nation in the countries where they reside.

He said that members of the diaspora, from America, Canada and Australia to Britain, Scandinavia, Germany, Switzerland and Austria, are small ambassadors of the Republic of Kosovo and the Albanian nation. When they come together, he added, these ambassadors form the largest embassy that Albanians have in Europe, thanks to the diaspora and its engagement on the international stage, for which Kurti expressed his gratitude.

Speaking about the possibility of their return, the acting prime minister said that Kosovo is creating better conditions through the rule of law, good governance, the fight against corruption, and investment in agriculture and the army.

Kurti said that many families had once sent one or two members to the West, while today, in some cases, they are bringing one or two of them back to Kosovo. He noted that their return is made easier by the fact that they own land, houses and, in some cases, other apartments in Kosovo.

According to him, state institutions aim to involve hundreds of compatriots in the country’s public institutions, while thousands of others are to join Kosovo’s private sector.
