Albin Kurti, leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement, said that talks with Lumir Abdixhiku, leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo, LDK deputy leader Lutfi Haziri, and former President Vjosa Osmani did not produce a political agreement. According to him, the meeting focused on current developments and opportunities for cooperation.

Kurti warned that the country could face new elections if the parties fail to reach an agreement.
Commenting on the meeting with LDK leaders, he stressed that an agreement would be newsworthy, but confirmed that no such outcome had been achieved. Kurti said that different approaches and the options ahead had been considered, underscoring the need for a political agreement that respects the election result rather than replacing it. According to him, this result should be translated into a contribution to institutional stability and the democratic functioning of the Republic of Kosovo.
He said that no one wants new elections, but that they could nevertheless be triggered if there is no agreement or progress. Kurti said that both the Vetëvendosje Movement and the Democratic League of Kosovo are aware of this possibility.
According to him, efforts will continue with maximum intensity through communication and meetings. However, Kurti noted that the deadlines are approaching and the time available has dwindled. He added that even if no political agreement is reached tomorrow, the parties must attend the opening of the constitutive session of the 11th legislature the following day.
Kurti said the meeting also covered the institutional situation, current political developments, and the challenges facing the country in many areas. He was accompanied by Finance Minister and Vetëvendosje Presidency member Hekuran Murati.
The Vetëvendosje leader said that the participants shared many concerns during the discussions regarding the progress needed by citizens and the state. At the same time, according to him, there is a willingness and eagerness to work together in the future, which represents an optimistic signal for both parties and a positive development for the country and its citizens in general.
Kurti said that meetings between political parties should be regarded as a normal part of political life rather than as extraordinary events. According to him, parties should communicate and cooperate on issues where they agree, regardless of whether they are in opposition or in government, and should also seek to bring their positions closer together where differences exist.
He said that meetings with the LDK are no longer news in Kosovo because holding them has become normal. Kurti identified as a problem the fact that, despite efforts, another meeting has not been arranged with Ardian Gjini, the new leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, who also serves as mayor of Gjakova.
According to Kurti, it is unreasonable for them not to meet and talk while local politicians in Kosovo frequently meet with one another, as well as with international diplomats and politicians. He said that the fact that the prime minister, namely Kurti himself, does not meet with Gjini in his capacity as both a mayor and the leader of the AAK is what constitutes news in Kosovo today.
Referring to the AAK and the PDK, Kurti said that he remains interested in and ready to meet with the leaders of both parties. According to him, the AAK leader excluded himself before the talks began, while the PDK leader did so at the start of the process.
Kurti said that only one meeting had been held with the PDK leader and that, in his view, communication should have continued, but this was not possible. He stressed that his readiness, willingness, and interest would always remain.
Kurti said that he is ready to meet with both the AAK and PDK leaders at any suitable time and at any location they choose. He said there are many topics that could be addressed and many issues on which there is agreement that could be turned into an action plan.
Kurti added that even where differences exist, the national interest requires efforts to overcome them. According to him, not all disagreements would remain unchanged if the parties met and tried to bring their positions closer together.
The constitutive session of the Assembly of Kosovo for the 11th legislature is scheduled to be held on August 6, starting at 10:00.
