During an extraordinary press conference on Tuesday, Kurti said the government had taken four steps to reach out to the PDK and reach an agreement on the election of the president and the law, but, according to him, no positive action had come from the party.
Kurti said that if the president is elected today, the second reading of the draft law on the Specialist Chambers will be put to a vote on Thursday.
“The law on the Specialist Chambers is urgent, but the president is an emergency. The president must be elected today, while the law can be voted on later, while also respecting the 72-hour deadline set out in Article 75 of the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly. Let us elect the president tonight, and I publicly pledge before you that the second reading of the draft law on the Specialist Chambers will pass on Thursday morning,” he said.
