Kurti announces that Kosovo will benefit from 206.4 million euros in EU funds

Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti announced that Kosovo will benefit from 206.4 million euros in European Union funds.

He said the IPA Committee has approved the projects submitted by Kosovo under the IPA 2026 and IPA 2027 programs, in the amount of 180.5 million euros. In addition, three grants from the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF), with a total value of 25.9 million euros, have also been approved.

In his full post, Kurti described this as good news for citizens, emphasizing that Kosovo is benefiting from 206.4 million euros in EU funds.

He said that yesterday, on July 7, the European Union officially informed Kosovo that the IPA Committee had approved the proposed projects under IPA 2026 and IPA 2027, worth 180.5 million euros. According to him, following approval by the European Commission, as well as the signing and ratification of the Financial Agreement by the Assembly, implementation of the projects will begin.

According to the announcement, the funds will be directed toward the country’s priority areas.

44 million euros have been allocated for the environment and climate.

34.5 million euros will go to energy.

30.5 million euros have been allocated for border management and migration.

31.8 million euros will support competitiveness, education, and employment.

24.7 million euros have been earmarked for good governance and alignment with the EU.

15 million euros will be dedicated to the rule of law.

Kurti stressed that approximately half of these funds will be used for infrastructure investments. He added that most of the projects will be implemented in cooperation with other development partners and with co-financing from Kosovo’s institutions.

In addition to the projects under IPA 2026 and IPA 2027, three grants from the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF), totaling 25.9 million euros, have also been approved.

One of them is linked to the Ibër-Lepenc Hydrosystem, through technical assistance for the preparation of the infrastructure investment.

Another grant is for the Qafë e Duhlës-Banullë highway, with technical assistance for the preparation of the highway segment.

The third grant is dedicated to the wastewater treatment plant in Podujevë, with an investment grant of 24.3 million euros, in cooperation with the EBRD.

In the end, Kurti expressed gratitude to the European Union for its support, emphasizing that these funds will be put to the service of citizens and the country’s development.
