According to Kurti, the meeting took place in a constructive atmosphere and focused on the criteria that the future president should meet.
“The meeting took place in a constructive spirit, and I saw the LDK’s willingness to bring a new president to the country without the need for new elections. We must guarantee the democratic functioning of the state and, to do this, we need to build trust. We discussed the criteria for the profile of the president or president from different perspectives and at different levels, particularly values, merits and contributions to society, to the nation as a whole and in specific professions,” Kurti said after the meeting.
The head of LVV emphasized that their aim is to elect a meritorious president who is in accordance with the Constitution, embodies social values and has contributed to the people.
“With regard to the presidential profile, I repeat: we must take into account the criteria, principles and circumstances in which we find ourselves, as well as individuals with their values, contributions and merits. We are seeking a meritorious, constitutional president who reflects the values of our society and has contributed to the people,” Kurti said.
The meeting was the fourth between the Vetëvendosje Movement and the LDK, as part of efforts to reach an agreement on the election of the president.
Kurti said that the willingness expressed by the parties to reach an agreement on the president was a reason for optimism.
