Pristina, September 14, 2026

Taking into account the announced developments for September 16, when the final verdict of the Special Court in The Hague against former KLA leaders is expected, the Kosovo Police has activated the necessary measures to ensure security, maintain public order and tranquility, and the normal conduct of all planned activities.

In line with previously established practices, the management of the Kosovo Police holds informational and coordinating meetings with department directors, division heads, and regional directorates whenever important events, gatherings, or public developments are expected. To preserve and strengthen cooperation, such meetings are also held with international partners, including KFOR, EULEX, representatives of the U.S. Embassy, the EU Office, and the OSCE. One such meeting was held today at the KP General Directorate, where the security plan and police commitments related to the developments on September 16 were presented.

Based on official duties and current legislation, the Kosovo Police will take care of the safety of all citizens without distinction. Various police units will be deployed to ensure that possible activities and developments conclude peacefully and without incident. If circumstances require, roads where activities take place may be subject to restrictions or temporary traffic interruptions. For this reason, traffic unit patrols have also been planned, which may direct vehicles to alternative routes.

The Kosovo Police calls on citizens and participants to adhere to the instructions of police officers, act with caution, and contribute to the safe and peaceful conduct of activities. Planning and implementation of security measures, especially when events, activities, or large public gatherings are expected, including the drafting and implementation of police plans, are regular procedures aimed at guaranteeing general security.

The Kosovo Police thanks citizens for their understanding and cooperation. Their safety and the normal conduct of activities remain among KP’s priorities. Police officers will be present on the ground to guarantee constitutional order and public security in the country.
