Zelensky reiterated Ukraine’s position of not recognizing Kosovo’s independence, while emphasizing respect for Serbia’s territorial integrity and international law.

Koci deemed the Ukrainian president’s position unacceptable, declaring that he “seems to have forgotten that he was speaking as a statesman, not as a spokesman for Belgrade.”
According to the analyst, defining Kosovo’s independence as “unilateral” and invoking international law do not constitute a challenge only to Kosovo. He claims that, through these positions, Zelensky also contradicted the stances of the United States, the European Union and the International Court of Justice, reports “Bota sot”.

Zelensky, whom Trump called a dictator last year, apparently did not remember that he was speaking in his capacity as a statesman and not as a spokesman for Belgrade. By describing Kosovo’s independence as “unilateral” and invoking “international law,” he confronted not only Kosovo, but also the United States, the European Union and the ICJ. A diplomatic gaffe more befitting Belgrade than Kyiv.
