Independent MP Marjana Koçeku has again taken to social media to comment on the mass anti-government protests, which have continued across the country for 77 days. According to her, this movement has helped citizens understand that public space and common issues belong to everyone.

Koçeku, who left GPS a few months ago, also criticized the positions taken by Prime Minister Edi Rama and other representatives of this political force. She said that the clash between the new political culture embodied by the protest and the old politics, which continues to mock and ignore citizens, has now become evident.
The MP wrote that 77 days of protest have been enough to create an awareness that 35 years of politics failed or did not want to build: the conviction that the public realm and the common good are everyone’s responsibility, and that citizens should not remain spectators but should assume the leading role in their own country.
According to Koçeku, this period has also served to shape a new form of political expression, in which civic participation, public morality and responsibility are not merely part of speeches, but concrete positions and part of an individual’s identity within the community and country where they live.
She described the difference between the younger generation and the old politics as profound: while the former is awakening and demonstrating a new culture, the latter continues to mock citizens and refuses to listen to them.
