Kilometer-long queues at the Bllatë customs crossing as Dibër residents travel to North Macedonia for fuel

Residents of Dibër County are continuously crossing into North Macedonia, where they buy fuel and basic food products.

The reason for this movement is the price of diesel in Albania, which currently stands at 219 lekë per liter. Because of its proximity to Greater Dibër, citizens are choosing to travel in their own vehicles to refuel across the border.

The high volume of vehicles has led to long queues at the Bllatë Customs point, while drivers have faced waits lasting for hours.

According to the drivers, a liter of diesel is sold for 160 lekë in North Macedonia, meaning it is 60 lekë cheaper than in our country.

Meanwhile, although Albania and North Macedonia signed an agreement on implementing the “One Stop” system around two months ago, it has still not been ratified by the parliaments of the two countries and, consequently, has not entered into force.
