During the Assembly’s second reading of the draft law on the State Bureau for the Verification and Confiscation of Unjustified Assets, Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) MP Doarsa Kica-Xhelili criticized the bill.
She said the Bureau envisioned in the current draft law is not the mechanism it has been presented as: a tool to tackle the unjustified wealth of people who, she said, have unlawfully received millions of euros from the state.

Kica-Xhelili warned that, once the law is adopted, its provisions—not the promises made about it—will be implemented. She said the Bureau would not be the institution that targets those who have illegally taken millions of euros from the state of Kosovo.
“Today, this Bureau faces two major risks: first, it could be used for political blackmail, and second, it could obstruct the prosecution of those who have stolen,” Kica-Xhelili said.
