In an interview on “News24,” well-known journalist Klodiana Lala spoke about the arrest of Ergys Agasi. Lala outlined the developments, providing a chronology of events, from the investigation to the moment of the operation to arrest Agasi.

She stressed that Agasi wielded extraordinary power and was implicated in the data-theft scandal. According to SPAK, a structured criminal group had been established that also kidnapped businessmen.
“Once it was established that Ergys Agasi was in the vehicle, the operation was launched. The police wanted to be certain at the moment of the intervention, and he was followed from Elbasan. When they reached Plepa, he was surrounded by special operational forces, including RENEA. Agasi was completely off guard. Around 4,000 euros were found in the car after his arrest.
Uljan Shpataraku was wanted over a fight that had occurred in the south of the country, where, according to the police, he had threatened hotel employees. We reported that Shpataraku was facing criminal proceedings to return to the police, but this is now a somewhat complex matter.
Some time ago, suspicions arose that Agasi was hiding in Durrës and Elbasan, during a search being conducted by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation. All his assets, including the Equos resort, would have to be verified, and several villas would also have to be searched. In this regard, a very luxurious vehicle was discovered in one of the garages of a luxury villa. There was also a statement issued while Agasi was on the run, and this is where suspicions began that he was hiding in Albania. It became clear that he was staying between Tirana and Durrës. The operational plan was ready, and they were waiting for the moment to intervene,” she said.
She also stressed that Ergys Agasi had influenced appointments, mainly in Durrës, and that, in her view, he was arrested in a place where he had considered himself untouchable.
“He had influence over appointments, mainly in the city of Durrës. When he was declared a fugitive and officially placed on the wanted list, it seems that things did not go in his favor, because changes in leadership began to take place. There was also a reaction from international actors, and this further tightened the noose around Ergys Agasi. Durrës, because it has grown and has its own connections, is the city where he operated the most. Durrës is also the main gateway for the trafficking of large quantities of narcotics… so it was advantageous because it also generated financial capacity. There is talk of influence over SHISH,” Klodiana Lala emphasized.
Berisha’s statements?
Klodiana Lala: “I do not undertake to comment on Mr. Berisha’s statements. Berisha has always made accusations. But I do not see this as a coordinated or controlled arrest. This arrest will greatly assist the Special Prosecutor’s Office. However, several interior ministers have been dismissed because of Agasi. If Mr. Berisha has evidence, let him produce it.
The fact that he will be confronted with footage he himself recorded in his office means he will be forced to provide explanations. It was not only Karçanaj who was filmed in Ergys Agasi’s office, but dozens of other officials as well…
But if I may say so, this is the moment when everyone has abandoned him, and whether he will cooperate or not remains to be seen. What is on Ergys Agasi’s mobile phones, which were seized yesterday? Whom did he meet, and with whom did he speak? These are details that could prove useful for many things,” she added.
