The announcement comes amid growing speculation about the health of the 56-year-old. He assumed the post after his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed in Tehran.
Iran’s Mizan news agency reported that Qasem Qoraishi, deputy head of the Basij Organization, said footage would be released in the future showing Mojtaba Khamenei “among the people and out on the streets,” as well as during meetings with commanders of the armed forces.
The statement is intended to demonstrate that the supreme leader remains active, while his prolonged absence from public appearances has raised further questions about his health.
