Greek investigators are analyzing digital evidence seized as part of the investigation into the death of Giorgos Mazonakis. At the center of the investigation is a photograph taken by Ioanna Gaka at the clinic and later sent to a person whose identity has not yet been established.

Gaka, a Greek doctor, was at the private clinic in Kolonaki, Athens, when Mazonakis underwent plasmapheresis and suffered cardiac arrest. In her testimony, she stated that she was the doctor who proposed the treatment to him.
Ioanna Gaka and her husband, doctor Ilias Theodoropoulos, are among the main people under investigation. Both have been arrested and, according to the latest developments, are accused of possible intentional homicide.
Forensic analysis revealed that Gaka had created two photographs and a video featuring Mazonakis on the day of the incident. Before appearing to give her statement at the Kypseli Police Station, she had deleted all three files.
The first photograph was taken at 14:43:36. In the image, Mazonakis appears lying on the clinic bed, with the medical equipment operating, wearing a yellow shirt and covered with blankets.
However, investigators are not examining only what is shown in the photograph. The file’s digital data also contain geographical coordinates that correspond to the address of the clinic on Karneadou Street in Athens.
Another important element concerns traces of the photograph’s sharing. According to experts, the file appears to have been sent to another person whose identity is still unknown.
So far, there is no evidence that the photograph was sent to Ilias Theodoropoulos.
Authorities expect an analysis of the phone data to determine the recipient of the image, the application used to send it and whether the photograph was accompanied by a message.
A second photograph was created at 14:45:22, just a few minutes after the first. This file was also deleted and contains the same coordinates, indicating the location of the clinic.
Information about a deleted video was also recovered from the same device. The video was created at 14:43:55, between the two photographs, while its deletion occurred at the same time as the deletion of the second photograph.
Investigators are organizing these data chronologically in an effort to reconstruct the crucial minutes of the day of the incident.
Checks have also been extended to the mobile phones of three clinic employees. Investigators are searching their devices for messages, calls, photographs, videos and other forms of communication that could help clarify what happened.
Particular attention is being paid to contacts with the two doctors during the critical hours, as well as to any material that may have been shared after the incident.
Information obtained from these devices may be compared with data found on Ioanna Gaka’s phone and on the clinic’s computer.
At the same time, authorities are also investigating the possibility that a substance was administered to Mazonakis before or during the plasmapheresis procedure.
So far, no specific medicine or substance has been identified. Conclusions are expected after the toxicology test results are received.
If the use of a substance is confirmed, investigators will have to determine how it was administered, who administered it and whether the procedure was carried out under the required medical conditions.
At this stage of the investigation, the photograph sent to an unidentified recipient and any data that may be recovered from the phone are considered essential evidence. They could help clarify what happened at the clinic in the minutes before and during the incident.
