Over the past 24 hours, police have detained 11 people at various locations across the country on suspicion of reckless driving. Nine of them were caught driving without having passed a driving test, while cases of driving under the influence of alcohol and at twice the permitted speed limit were also recorded.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that those detained include V.G. (64) from the village of Moshtica, Gj.B. (60) from Dolno Karaslari, B.M. (49) from the village of Negotino, a 15-year-old from the village of Sirichino, O.A. (27) from the village of Peshtalevo and N.N. (43) from Gevgelija. A 17-year-old, M.J. (23) and S.A. (24), all three from Skopje, were also detained.
In S.A.’s case, police determined that, in addition to driving without having passed a driving test, he was also under the influence of alcohol.
M.G. (64) from Delchevo was also arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. Meanwhile, E.A. (23) from the village of Germë was detained after, according to the Interior Ministry, he was driving at twice the permitted speed limit.
Once all the cases have been fully documented, the Interior Ministry said the appropriate criminal charges would be filed.
Police urged drivers to comply with traffic regulations, not to drive without a license obtained by passing a driving test, and not to drive under the influence of alcohol. Drivers were also asked to adjust their speed to road conditions and the prescribed limits.
