Intelligent devices detect 1,100 violations, with speeds reaching 230 km/h; Hita inspects field checks

In just one week, intelligent devices have recorded 1,100 administrative violations for speeding, including cases involving speeds of up to 230 km/h.

Nationwide, over the course of a year, 1,075 drivers have had their driving licenses revoked after exhausting all their points. In addition, 1,060 cases of driving without a license have been referred for prosecution. According to the State Police, these figures are alarming and require the main focus to be placed on road safety.

Following the high number of violations detected by intelligent devices, which pose a potential risk to the lives of road users, the Director General of the State Police, Senior Director Skënder Hita, conducted a field inspection of the measures undertaken by the Traffic Police to prevent accidents.

During the inspection, the Director of the Traffic Police, First Director Perlat Vatoci, briefed the Director General on how the traffic police structures are carrying out their work in the field through the use of intelligent monitoring devices.

Vatoci explained that an intelligent device capable of automatically measuring speed had been installed on the main interurban road, “Rrogozhinë-Durrës.” Similar devices, he said, have been deployed throughout the country, including on the Nation’s Road and other main routes, to identify every vehicle exceeding the permitted speed limits.

He stressed that the use of these intelligent devices must continue to be part of the Traffic Police’s daily and dynamic operations.

For his part, Hita called for increased measures and issued an appeal to all road users. He said that road safety remains a priority for the State Police, while the installation of intelligent devices on the roads is intended to detect all violations and problems encountered on a daily basis.

According to the Director General, the Traffic Police is determined to document violations using all the tools at its disposal, including Poliscan, radars and drones. These devices will enable violators to be penalized for offenses committed on main and interurban roads.

Hita announced that the cameras of the National Road Traffic Monitoring Center would also be activated soon. They will be integrated into the Police system, enabling more accurate monitoring and verification of every violation and problem on the main interurban routes.

He clarified that the aim is not limited solely to identifying violations. The focus is also on raising public awareness, preventing traffic offenses and avoiding fatal accidents.

Drivers were urged not to use mobile phones while driving, not to drive under the influence of alcohol or narcotic substances, and not to exceed speed limits, since speeding kills.

In conclusion, Hita emphasized that respecting one rule means one more life saved.
