Skender Hita meets police leaders in Elbasan, Berat and Kukës: School safety and crime prevention are priorities

Director General of the State Police, Senior Director Skender Hita, held working meetings with the structures of the Local Police Directorates in Elbasan, Berat and Kukës, with the aim of strengthening security in these counties.

The meetings discussed preventive measures against criminal incidents, the continuous monitoring of conflicts and citizens’ reports, as well as the identification and arrest of people who possess firearms or are involved in the distribution of narcotics.

Attention was also paid to locating and apprehending wanted persons, combating environmental crimes, and communicating with citizens in a manner characterized by ethics and professionalism.

An important part of the discussions concerned school safety. Senior Director Hita described this issue as the State Police’s top priority and requested that, with the start of the new academic year, police services engage to the fullest extent in cooperation with school safety officers.

The aim of this commitment is to protect students and create the conditions for a calm and safe learning process.

The heads of police stations were asked to monitor the situation in schools every day and to deal directly with every problem reported by educational institutions relating to student safety.

The Narcotics Sectors, the “Eagles” structures and Operational Services will focus on the security perimeters of schools to prevent the presence of people seeking to sell narcotics or become involved in conflicts with students.

To improve road safety, the Director General called for increased traffic checks and monitoring, including the use of smart devices. The measures aim to prevent accidents and ensure an immediate response to identified violations.

Skender Hita asked the leaders to assume direct responsibility for the security situation in the territories they cover, closely monitor problems and guarantee a rapid and professional response to citizens’ concerns.

He also requested that the county directors and heads of police stations receive citizens, listen to the problems that can be resolved by the Police and actively participate in resolving them. Hita stressed that he, too, is available to meet any citizen who wishes to see him.

Meetings with police structures will continue in all Local Police Directorates, as well as in the Local Directorates for Border and Migration.
