According to the director of MEPSO, the Ohrid substation is nearing completion. Meanwhile, construction of the transmission line is progressing at a good pace, marking visible progress on the ground.
“The interconnection with Albania is not merely an infrastructure project. It is an important step toward increasing energy security, expanding cross-border exchanges and strengthening regional integration,” Latifi said.
Latifi also emphasized that MEPSO will continue its efforts to expand transmission infrastructure through other strategic projects. These include plans for stronger interconnections with Kosovo and Bulgaria, as well as strengthening the connection with Greece.
“The more interconnected we are, the safer we are. The more integrated we are at the regional level, the more stable and resilient we are,” he said.
He thanked the US Embassy for its partnership and support in implementing projects aimed at building a stronger, safer and more energy-integrated region.
