Ramush Haradinaj reacted to today’s decision by the committee not to support the amendment that provided for the allocation of an additional 1 million euros for prostheses and medical equipment for war invalids.
He called it unacceptable for people who sacrificed their limbs and health for Kosovo’s freedom to be neglected by the government.

“For a war invalid, a prosthesis is not a luxury but an essential necessity. Such equipment requires periodic replacement, and many of them cannot afford the cost. Providing them is the responsibility of the state, which should not force war invalids to seek support from friends or fellow citizens in the diaspora,” Haradinaj wrote.
The amendment presented by the Committee on Social Welfare, Labor, Family, the Values of the Liberation War, Victims of Wartime Sexual Violence and Missing Persons was not approved at today’s meeting. Five members voted in favor, none against, and five abstained.
Finance Minister Hekuran Murati said the issue had already been regulated by an administrative instruction from the Ministry of Health, approved in March 2024. According to him, the coverage is provided through the Health Insurance Fund.
“There is already an institutional solution for this issue: in March 2024, an administrative instruction was approved that covers this installment through the Health Insurance Fund. Since the Ministry of Health has approved the instruction and the issue has been resolved, I do not consider such an amendment necessary,” Murati said.
