Hafiz Shala calls for political and institutional unity in Kosovo: avoid street clashes

After the decision of the Specialized Chambers in The Hague, publicist Hafiz Shala called on institutions and political entities in Kosovo to remain calm and act in unity. According to him, under the current circumstances, reducing tensions should be the priority.

Shala sees the decision of the Special Court as a strong blow to Serbia and its allies. He says that the accusations, which according to him relied on “fabrications and its propaganda through Carla Del Ponte and Dick Marty,” have collapsed, describing this development as “a victory for Albanians, first and foremost for the KLA, which emerged with its honor intact.”

Speaking about political developments, the publicist asks institutions and political actors to show restraint and engage in finding the best solution for Kosovo. He stresses that during the process of constituting state institutions, the need for political and institutional cooperation is greater than ever.

Shala warns that the situation could be exploited to spread disinformation and propaganda.

“Let us not forget that in such cases, hostile forces and foreign intelligence services are always engaged in creating confusion through disinformation and propaganda, with the aim of creating a chaos that nobody wants,” he says.

For this reason, he asks state institutions and political representatives to meet urgently and find a solution so that Parliament can be completed and the state can function in a “legal and legitimate” manner.

He also highlights the importance of coordination with international partners, in particular with the European Union and the United States of America. Shala recalls that the state of Kosovo was built after the war in cooperation with these international friends.

At the same time, he calls on the parties not to pursue “street politics,” especially in a period of high emotional charge, but to return decision-making to the country’s legitimate institutions.

Hafiz Shala considers sincere unity to be the decisive element for overcoming the situation.

“Sincere unity has never been more necessary than in these moments,” he says, adding that the war, freedom and independence were won through unity and that “we need this unity in these moments like never before.”
