The Appeal Court of the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime has rejected a request by former president Ilir Meta, who had challenged the first-instance court’s decision to suspend the time limits for his pretrial detention.

The judicial panel reportedly upheld the Special Court’s decision to suspend the pretrial detention time limits for the former president and leader of the Freedom Party.
Former president Meta has been held in pretrial detention at Prison 313 since October 2024, following charges brought against him by SPAK for corruption, money laundering and concealment of assets.
