Following the decision by the Specialist Chambers in The Hague concerning four former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army, France reiterated its support for Kosovo’s independence and its institutions.

In its official response, Paris praised the work of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers and underscored its commitment to the fight against impunity. “France reiterates its support for the Kosovo Specialist Chambers and recalls its commitment to the fight against impunity. It also reaffirms its unwavering support for Kosovo’s independence and its institutions,” the statement said.
The Specialist Chambers in The Hague found Hashim Thaçi, Jakup Krasniqi, Kadri Veseli and Rexhep Selimi guilty of offenses related to war crimes.
Thaçi and Krasniqi were each sentenced to 25 years in prison, while Kadri Veseli was sentenced to 18 years and Rexhep Selimi to 13 years in prison.
France has made it clear that support for Kosovo’s institutions and efforts to uphold justice remain part of its official policy.
