Vlora Mayor Vlora Mersni said that, for the time being, the flames are not threatening homes, as there are no inhabited areas near the zone affected by the fire.
According to Mersni, the absence of homes nearby means there is currently no danger. She stressed that all emergency structures have been deployed on the ground and are on full alert, although the difficult terrain is hampering the response.
The situation is being monitored continuously, while teams will continue working to bring the fire perimeter under control, contain the spread of the flames and prevent any potential threat to inhabited areas.
The mayor urged local residents to exercise caution and not obstruct the movement of emergency vehicles. Shashica is located approximately 8 km from the city of Vlora.
