The situation has put the fire service and local civil emergency authorities on alert.
Official sources from Prrenjas Municipality said that Fire Protection and Rescue Service personnel worked continuously throughout yesterday to battle the flames.
Intensive efforts have continued today, with the aim of containing and fully extinguishing the remaining active hotspots.
The operation is being carried out under difficult conditions due to the rugged mountainous terrain, which has prevented the movement of fire engines. To stop the fire from spreading toward other forested areas, crews have had to proceed on foot.
Teams from Prrenjas Municipality, the State Police, the forestry service and local residents have joined forces to tackle the situation, assisting the personnel operating in the field.
No injuries or damage to homes have been reported as a result of the fire. The impact has been limited to areas of beech forest, while authorities are keeping the area under surveillance to prevent hotspots from reigniting.
