European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has responded to the wildfire situation in Europe in a post on “X,” also mentioning Albania.

She said the continent remains on high alert due to the massive wildfires, while the European Union is closely monitoring the situation. According to von der Leyen, the Copernicus satellite system has begun assisting mapping operations.
“Europe remains on high alert for massive wildfires. Pressure is mounting in Albania, Belgium, Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Our Copernicus satellite system is already supporting mapping operations,” the European Commission president wrote.
Von der Leyen added that the Emergency Centre is carefully monitoring wildfire hotspots across the continent, while the Civil Protection Mechanism is ready to be activated whenever a country calls for Europe’s solidarity.
