The flames have been active in the area for two days now and have covered a considerable mountainous area. The fire initially spread on Mount Dukat, while the situation has now worsened as the blaze has crossed to the other side.
The flames are advancing toward Dhërmi, one of the most frequented tourist areas on the southern coast, while the fire continues to engulf new areas. The situation is concerning because the blaze has spread to both sides of Mount Çika.
Firefighting forces have been deployed on the ground, together with two “Air Tractor” aircraft, and are working to prevent the fire from advancing further.
