For four days, flames have been engulfing the Tërbun forest massif in Pukë, where the situation is deteriorating rapidly.

High temperatures and strong winds have helped spread the fire across a large part of the forest perimeter. Effective intervention by firefighting vehicles from the ground has been hampered by the difficult mountainous terrain and the lack of passable roads, so firefighters and forestry service workers are operating mainly with improvised means.
The fire, which is advancing unchecked, has completely burned large areas of pine trees and dense vegetation. Faced with the inability to isolate the blaze from the ground, local authorities and residents are urgently calling for helicopters to be deployed from the air. According to them, this remains the only way to control the situation before the environmental damage becomes even more extensive.
