For 6 days, a large-scale fire has continued to burn a portion of the forested area of Dardhë village, in the Municipality of Librazhd, while efforts to bring the flames under control are facing major difficulties due to the mountainous terrain, strong wind, and high temperatures.

Dozens of Librazhd fire service personnel, supported by civil emergency structures, have been continuously engaged on the ground to isolate the active hotspots and prevent further spread of the fire.
However, atmospheric conditions have favored the advance of the flames across a large area with dry vegetation and forests.
The rugged mountainous terrain makes it difficult for firefighting vehicles to intervene, forcing teams to work on foot in many sectors to curb the spread of the fire.
The priority remains protecting the forested areas and avoiding the risk of flames spreading outside the area currently under control.
Fortunately, the fire hotspot is far from inhabited areas and there are no endangered homes, while authorities continue monitoring the situation on the ground.
The area where the fire hotspots are active across its entire surface had thousands of dry timber logs left behind by the massacre carried out year after year by illegal exploiters of the forest economy over the past decade.
The Elbasan County area had been warned a few days earlier by the National Civil Protection Agency as one of the regions with a very high risk of fire outbreaks and spread, due to the heatwave and extreme temperatures that have engulfed the country over the weekend.
