False call mobilizes firefighters in Berat, vehicles risk collision at intersection

The Berat Fire Department was alerted after a phone call reported that a house was on fire in the village of Velabisht.

Two fire engines set off at speed toward the reported area. As they traveled against traffic through the city streets, they were blocked by vehicles at an intersection and risked colliding with each other.

Upon arriving at the scene, the firefighters found that the report was false and that no house had caught fire, journalist Eneida Petova reports.

The incident has been referred to the Berat Local Police Directorate, which will investigate to identify the source of the call and the person who made the false report.
