According to an announcement by the Institute of Geosciences, the country is expected to face extremely high temperatures from July 29 to August 2, 2026, significantly increasing the risk of forest fires.

The National Civil Protection Agency warns that the risk will peak on Sunday, particularly in the counties of Tirana, Elbasan, Fier, Berat, Vlorë and Gjirokastër, where high temperatures are expected.
In the other counties, the risk level for Sunday has been classified as “moderate.”
Forecast temperatures
Lowland areas: up to 39.5°C, peaking in the municipality of Peqin.
Coastal areas: up to 38.9°C.
Hilly areas: up to 38.3°C.
Mountainous areas: up to 33.3°C.
The Institute stressed that temperatures will continue to rise until Saturday, August 1, when they are expected to peak.
The warning comes at a time when the risk of fires is high, while authorities are urging citizens to exercise increased caution.
