In the interview, he also discussed the case of Ermal Beqiri, who was arrested in France. Following his detention, a castle, airplanes and other assets were uncovered, turning the case into yet another scandal in the country.
According to Peçi, the protests will continue for as long as Albanians are confronted with such scandals. He stressed that the movement has shown no signs of stopping, while new cases are emerging every day.
The journalist said the latest scandal concerns how Ermal Beqiri, a person who had access to AKSHI tenders, had become a millionaire and was living a life of luxury unimaginable to ordinary citizens. For this reason, he said, citizens have every right to take part in the protest.
Peçi said SPAK has penetrated the heart of the Prime Minister’s Office and that all roads lead to Rama. He added that Beqiri, who is now under arrest, must be extradited so that the truth can emerge about what happened with the AKSHI files and how taxpayers’ money was used.
In conclusion, the journalist said that, based on his understanding, the protest will continue because it has participants and is demonstrating coherence and staying power.
