The European People’s Party (EPP), the largest political group in the European Union, has expressed concern about the situation and protests in Albania. In its statement, it focused on human rights, the rule of law and the actions of law enforcement forces.
The EPP called for the freedom to protest peacefully to be guaranteed and allegations of excessive use of force to be fully investigated.

“Peaceful protest is a right that must be fully respected. Any allegation of excessive use of force must be investigated, while law enforcement agencies must always act proportionately.”
According to the party, reducing tensions in the country should be based on dialogue and democratic participation, not repression or state violence.
“The current tensions must be addressed through dialogue, de-escalation and democratic engagement. Democracy does not mean imposing change through violence; it requires listening, respect and building a peaceful future.”
In its closing message, the EPP said that Albania’s prospects are linked to accountable institutions and a functioning justice system.
“Albania’s future lies on a democratic, prosperous and European path, with an accountable government, the rule of law, the fight against corruption and opportunities for the future within the country.”
The reaction from Brussels adds to international calls to end violence against protesters and young people in Tirana, increasing pressure on the executive to respect European standards.
