The Democratic Union for Integration has reacted to Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski’s statement that early parliamentary elections could be held if the opposition calls for them. In its statement to the media, DUI said it welcomed this readiness.

The party said it is now necessary for the prime minister’s statement to be followed by concrete steps, calling for the earliest constitutionally permitted date to be set within a few days and preparations for the electoral process to begin. According to DUI, citizens should have the opportunity to decide on the country’s future and direction.
“We are calling for it. At last, the prime minister has also understood that this situation is unsustainable and that the country needs a new political mandate. The government has lost its legitimacy to continue with European isolation, the degradation of interethnic relations, the undermining of the Ohrid Agreement and the weakening of the representation of Albanians in institutions.”
DUI believes that if Mickoski’s offer is serious, there should be no delays, excuses or political calculations. “Therefore, DUI calls for the prime minister’s statement to be immediately translated into action,” the statement said.
“The opposition has given its answer. DUI is ready. Let Parliament be dissolved. Let the date be set. Let us go to elections,” the DUI statement concludes./Telegrafi/
