Driver dies in Ohrid after vehicle catches fire upon hitting stray dogs

A fatal accident was recorded yesterday on the Ohrid–Kičevo motorway, at the exit from Ohrid, near the “Maucker” locality.

According to a statement from the Ohrid SPB, the “Hyundai Getz” passenger car first hit several stray dogs and then the roadside metal barriers before catching fire.

The fire was brought under control by a team from the Ohrid Territorial Firefighting Directorate. The lifeless body of the person who was behind the wheel was found inside the vehicle.

By order of the public prosecutor, the body was taken to the Department of Forensic Medicine, where it will undergo an autopsy and the procedure to establish the person’s identity.

At the scene, an inspection was carried out by the public prosecutor and an inspection team from the Ohrid SPB. During the process, traffic on the motorway was diverted onto the Ohrid–Struga regional road.
