Do you have a family and children? Robert Aliaj accuses police of violence at protests and tells Rama: You have turned the state into an instrument of plunder

In a public statement, Robert Aliaj strongly condemned what he described as police violence during protests in Tirana.

The artist accused officers from the State Police and RENEA of using violence against minors, high school students, university students and other citizens.

Aliaj addressed police officers, saying they had turned their uniforms and state institutions into tools of violence against protesters.

He questioned the officers’ moral responsibility and that of their family members, urging them not to remain silent about acts he described as criminal.

“Do you have a family? Do you have children? Do you have wives?” the artist asked, also criticizing police officers’ relatives, who, he said, do not speak out against violence toward young people.

Aliaj also criticized Prime Minister Edi Rama, whom he holds responsible for police actions during the protests. According to the artist, the head of government protects and rewards officers who use violence against protesters.

“You, who have turned the state into an instrument of plunder and the State Police into your private army,” Aliaj wrote in his message to the prime minister.

The artist warned that responsibility for the actions he denounced does not rest only with those who use violence or give orders. It will also weigh morally on those who choose to remain silent, he added.

Aliaj ended his statement with the rallying cry: “DOWN WITH THE DICTATORSHIP.”
