During the evening protest in the city square, chants against changing the municipality’s status were heard once again. Although turnout was lower compared with the first days, the protesters said they would continue their resistance.
Residents of Divjaka oppose the city’s inclusion in Lushnja Municipality and are demanding the right to choose their local leaders themselves. According to them, they should then have the opportunity to hold these leaders accountable for the way the municipality is governed.
After the 49th protest ended, the citizens marched through the city’s streets, reiterating their demand to preserve Divjaka’s status as a municipality.
“Divjaka municipality!” was among the protesters’ main slogans.
