Raquel Trindade, a representative of the office of Portugal’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, told Portuguese radio station Renascença that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is monitoring the incident. She explained that Lisbon has not yet received official information about the circumstances of the death or about any possible investigation being conducted by the authorities in Tirana.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is following the case of this Portuguese citizen who died in Albania and, through its embassy in Rome and also its honorary consulate in Tirana, we are cooperating with the local authorities,” Trindade said. She added that “at the moment,” it is still not known exactly what happened.
“We know from the local press that arrests have been made, but at the moment we still do not have information through our network,” Raquel Trindade further said. According to her, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs “will continue to monitor what is necessary, both with the local authorities and with the families.”
