He recalled that the initiative has already been approved in the first reading, but said MPs still have the opportunity to decide on behalf of the citizens they represent.
“Personally, I believe that for an MP, voting to abolish the Special Court in this case is a historic and vital act. I know it has passed the first reading, but I hope that MPs, on behalf of the people and citizens they represent, as well as all the protesters not only in Pristina’s central square but everywhere in the world, now have the historic chance to vote,” Haradinaj said.
According to him, it is the MPs’ votes that will determine how this issue proceeds. Haradinaj urged them to reflect on the responsibility their decision carries.
“Awareness is important, because we have said it: it is the vote that determines where this process will go and what direction it will take,” he said.
Haradinaj said that the Kosovo Assembly is the only institution with the authority and legitimacy to decide on this issue.
“There is no other credible institution at the global level besides the Kosovo Parliament,” he said.
The former AAK MP warned that MPs would face political responsibility and be obliged to answer to citizens if they failed to vote for this initiative.
“They have this chance, but if they do not vote, they will bear responsibility and answer to the citizens,” Haradinaj said.
