Crisis Management Center Warns: High Fire Risk Across Almost the Entire Country

The latest analyses by the authorities show that almost the entire territory of North Macedonia is facing a high meteorological fire risk index.

According to Muhamed Ali, director of the Crisis Management Center, only the highest areas of the Šar Mountains remain outside this risk level.

Ali said the latest analysis by MKFFIS—the Macedonian Forest Fire Information System—conducted on August 10, 2026, at 12:45 p.m., indicates a high meteorological fire risk index across almost the entire Republic of North Macedonia, with the exception of the highest parts of the Šar Mountains. He stressed that there are currently no areas where the index is assessed as very high, but the possibility of high-intensity outdoor and forest fires persists throughout the country.
