A report by the Crisis Management Center (CMC) states that fires are continuing in the municipalities of Resen, Saraj, Petrovec, Jegunovce, Čaška, Prilep and Bogovinje. The flames have engulfed mixed and low-lying forests, vegetation, a landfill, as well as the area near the Prilep barracks.
Meanwhile, authorities have managed to bring two major fires under control: the one in the area between Gostivar and Makedonski Brod, and the fire above the village of Paligrad, in the Municipality of Studeničani.
During the night and early morning hours, field teams located and extinguished 17 fires in various regions, including Bitola, Dolneni, Prilep, Strumica, Struga, Kumanovo, Štip and several municipalities of Skopje.
The Central Command is monitoring the situation continuously and urges citizens to exercise maximum caution, as well as to comply with the ban on lighting fires in open areas.
The CMC emphasizes that the eight active fires require continued coordination and the use of all available resources in the field, in order to prevent the fires from spreading further.
